United Minds
Scientific discoveries are not solitary pursuits
So why do our monuments to scientists stand in isolation?
United Minds honours the spirit of collaboration that has always been at the heart of Danish science. That’s why we’ve created an installation around Niels Bohr’s statue at the University of Copenhagen, surrounding him with the faces of those who once joined him on the path toward discovery and helped shape his breakthroughs and the world that followed.
Together, they form a constellation of great minds, reminding us that discovery emerges through dialogue. Progress relies on openness, curiosity, and the courage to share ideas across borders.
Created by A State of Denmark and Copenhagen Capacity, the installation celebrates the Copenhagen Spirit and invites today’s researchers to continue what Bohr began: uniting minds to move the world forward.

Behind the making of United Minds
Each bust was shaped through a meeting of history and technology. Archival photos and historical materials were studied to bring the figures to life with care and precision.
Through advanced 3D modelling and printing, their likenesses were recreated in striking detail, capturing both presence and personality.
The result is a collection of statues reassembled around Niels Bohr, a quiet reminder that innovation often begins by reimagining the past and finding new ways to connect across time.
